I’m Nyssa and my husband is Jon. We’ve been married for 4 years and are very happy living in our house in Kirtland, Ohio. Besides 4 walls and a furnace our house left a lot to be desired when we originally moved in 2 years ago. Not wanting to spend a lot of money paying others to finish the house we took on the enormous project of doing everything ourselves. Jon is a very handy man but what’s even more amazing about him is he is able to finish/fix things impeccably having had no prior experience in almost every household job he undertakes. Although the majority of our projects are house related Jon is also a computer/ technology geek and we both enjoy fast cars (especially VWs), and finding good deals!
During the week Jon works full time at a machine shop. No, he does not work on cars but works with machines like a mill, lathe, press and water jet to make metal products/parts for other companies. I, on the other hand, am a full time student at The Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine. Since I’ve been in school for two decades I look forward to graduating May 2011 and starting my podiatric surgical residency.
As much as we love our home and each other nothing is more important to us than our relationship with our savior Jesus Christ. Having been bought with His blood we strive daily to fulfill our created purpose: to glorify Christ. We are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but through progressive sanctification we continue to grow. We whole heartedly believe that salvation is simple and not something you can earn through works. Jesus said “if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” Romans 10:9.
Finally, you should know that we have not always been as frugal as we are today. Since January 2010, after reading The Total Money Makeover, we decided we needed a financial overhaul! Resultantly, we now live on a budget and are slowly paying off our debts. For those familiar with Dave Ramsey’s book we are on baby step #2. We believe that “If you will live like no one else, later you can live like no one else.”
